PETALING JAYA:
Amanah deputy permanent chairman Adnan Saad collapsed and died while waiting in line to pay his zakat at Masjid Zahir in Alor Setar last night. He was 54.

Kedah Amanah secretary Asmirul Anuar Aris said Adnan, who also holds the position of the party’s state election director, collapsed soon after the Isyak prayers at the state mosque.

“His family has informed us that he had high blood pressure and a history of heart disease.

“He was well liked by all parties. The senior leaders in the party considered him a friend. His death is a shock to many,” the Kubang Rotan assemblyman said when contacted by Utusan Malaysia.

Amanah vice-president Mahfuz Omar described Adnan’s demise as a huge loss, both at the national and state levels.

He said Adnan was always cheerful and eager to carry out any work given to him.

“At the same time, he did not hold grudges and loved to joke around with his friends.”
