180 new hospital admissions, R0 down to 0.73

PETALING JAYA:
There were 180 new hospital admissions involving Covid-19 cases yesterday, the health ministry said.

Of this, 93 cases were in Category 1 and 2 while 87 were in Category 3, 4 and 5.

Selangor had the highest number of new admissions with 47, followed by Perak (24) and Kuala Lumpur (17).

A total of 173 patients were discharged yesterday.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) were at 13% of their total capacity of 752 beds.

A total of 63 patients required respiratory assistance, with ventilators being used at 8% of their maximum capacity.

In terms of the total capacity for both Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients at public hospitals, non-critical beds were at 60% capacity while 55% of ICUs were in use.

No new cluster was reported yesterday.

The Covid-19 infectivity rate (R0) stood at 0.73.
