8 new Covid-19 deaths, no brought-in-dead cases

The health ministry also reported 4,006 new cases.

The death toll now stands at 35,499.
PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry reported eight Covid-19 deaths yesterday, one death less than the nine recorded the previous day.

The death toll stands at 35,499.

According to its Github database, there were 4,006 new cases, compared with 5,624 a day earlier. They comprised 3,999 local cases and seven imported cases.

There were no brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Selangor recorded two deaths, while Johor, Melaka, Pahang, Sarawak, Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur recorded one death each.

There were no deaths in the other states and in Labuan and Putrajaya.

As of midnight, there were 74,752 active cases, with 1,627 people hospitalised. Of this, 98 were in intensive care units (ICU), with 61 requiring respiratory assistance.

There were also 10,223 recoveries.

The total number of Covid-19 cases stands at 4,431,073.
