165 new hospital admissions, ICUs at 13% capacity

Meanwhile, 175 patients were discharged yesterday, says health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

A total of 61 patients required respiratory assistance, with ventilators being used at 8% of their maximum capacity.
PETALING JAYA:
There were 165 new Covid-19 hospital admissions yesterday, the health ministry said.

Of this, 91 cases were in Category 1 and 2 while 74 were in Category 3, 4 and 5.

Selangor had the highest number of new admissions with 35, followed by Kedah (25) and Perak (17).

Meanwhile, 175 patients were discharged yesterday.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) were at 13% of their total capacity of 748 beds.

A total of 61 patients required respiratory assistance, with ventilators being used at 8% of their maximum capacity.

In terms of public hospitals’ total capacity (Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients), non-critical beds were at 58% while 55% of ICUs were in use.

One new cluster was reported yesterday.

Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought or R0) stands at 0.77.
