
According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 5,624 new cases, comprising 5,607 local cases and 17 imported cases.
Of the nine deaths, two were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases. The death toll now stands at 35,491.
Kedah recorded the most deaths with six. This was followed by Johor, Sabah and Sarawak with one each.
There were no deaths recorded in all other states and federal territories.
As of midnight, there were 80,977 active cases, with 1,605 people hospitalised. Of this,89 were in intensive care units (ICU), with 57 requiring respiratory assistance.
There were also 10,041 recoveries recorded.
The total number of Covid-19 cases stands at 4,427,067.
