PETALING JAYA:
Singer Radhi of the popular rock band OAG was charged with assaulting his former wife.

Radhi, whose real name is Radhi Razali, pleaded not guilty to the offence before magistrate Iskandar Zainol.

He was accused of hitting Nur Shahira Ayu Zahiri, 27, at the compound of his residence at Kota Damansara around 2.29pm on April 19.

Radhi, 45, faces a maximum one-year jail, or RM2,000 fine, or both, if convicted under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

Deputy public prosecutor Wafi Hussein suggested the court impose RM7,000 bail for Radhi on the condition that he doesn’t intimidate the witness.

Counsel Haziq Aizuddin Subhi requested a lower bail, stating that his client had to take care of his children and has no fixed income.

The court set bail at RM2,500 in one surety and fixed July 13 for mention.
