Covid-19 deaths down to single digit, 5,899 new cases

The death toll stands at 35,470.

Four deaths were classified as brought-in-dead cases.
PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry reported five Covid-19 deaths yesterday, down from 16 previously.

The death toll stands at 35,470.

According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 5,899 new cases, compared with 6,968 a day earlier. They comprised 5,883 local cases and 16 imported cases.

Four of the deaths were classified as brought-in-dead (BID).

Selangor recorded three deaths, followed by Sabah and Sarawak with one each.

There were no deaths in the other states and federal territories.

As of midnight, there were 88,184 active cases, with 1,649 hospitalised. Of this, 92 were in intensive care units (ICU), with 61 requiring respiratory assistance.

There were also 8,434 recoveries.

The total number of Covid-19 cases stands at 4,415,101.
