PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad has denounced the contents of leaked documents, stating there has been no discussion among top leaders in the party to topple Umno leaders.
Idris Ahmad.

“PAS vice-president Amar Nik Abdullah, vice-president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and I have never discussed such matters as contained in the documents.

“The cracks appearing in Perikatan Nasional and Muafakat Nasional will be seen as a success by our enemies,” he said at a press conference.

He agreed with the earlier comment by Samsuri, who is also the Terengganu menteri besar, that these leaked documents were “rubbish”.

Earlier, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was reported to have lodged a police report over the documents that allegedly mention the need for “interference” in court cases involving certain Umno leaders to “hasten their sentencing”.

Zahid’s lead counsel, Hisyam Teh Poh Teik, said they want the authorities to investigate the matter to determine whether attempts had been made to compromise the integrity of the judicial process.

On Sunday, the documents, believed to be minutes of a PAS meeting that allegedly mention a plot to topple and disrupt Umno and Barisan Nasional, had gone viral on social media.

The documents also include a plan to expedite the sentences of Umno’s “court cluster”, namely Zahid and former prime minister Najib Razak, who are either on trial or have been convicted on charges such as criminal breach of trust, abuse of power and money laundering.

Several prominent figures have been linked to the alleged plot.
