208 new hospital admissions, ICUs at 12% capacity

A total of 284 patients were discharged yesterday.

A total of 61 patients required respiratory assistance.
PETALING JAYA:
There were 208 new hospital admissions involving Covid-19 cases yesterday, the health ministry said.

Of this, 69 cases were in Category 1 and 2 while 139 were in Category 3, 4 and 5.

Selangor had the highest number of new admissions with 42, followed by Perak (32) and Kuala Lumpur (23).

A total of 284 patients were discharged yesterday.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) were at 12% of their total capacity of 760 beds.

A total of 61 patients required respiratory assistance, with ventilators being used at 8% of their maximum capacity.

In terms of the total capacity for both Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients in public hospitals, non-critical beds were at 61% capacity while 53% of ICUs were in use.

One new cluster was reported yesterday.

The Covid-19 infectivity rate (R0) stood at 0.81.
