241 new hospital admissions, ICUs at 13% capacity

A total of 286 patients were discharged yesterday.

Selangor had the highest number of hospital admissions, followed by Johor and Perak.
PETALING JAYA:
There were 241 Covid-19 hospital admissions yesterday, the health ministry said.

Of this, 144 cases were in category 1 and 2 while 97 were in categories 3, 4 and 5.

Selangor had the highest number of new admissions with 52, followed by Johor (34) and Perak (30).

Meanwhile, 286 patients were discharged yesterday.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) were at 13% of their total capacity of 760 beds.

A total of 64 patients required respiratory assistance, with ventilators being used at 8% of maximum capacity.

In terms of public hospitals’ total capacity (Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients), non-critical beds were at 61% while 51% of ICUs were in use.

Five clusters were reported yesterday.

Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought or R0) stood at 0.86.
