331 new hospital admissions, ICUs at 16% capacity

A total of 335 patients were also discharged yesterday.

Selangor had the highest number of new admissions with 74, followed by Perak and Johor.

There were 331 new hospital admissions involving Covid-19 cases yesterday, the health ministry said.

Of this, 185 cases were in Category 1 and 2 while 146 were in Category 3, 4 and 5.

A total of 335 patients were also discharged yesterday.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) were at 16% of their total capacity of 859 beds. 

There was no region where the number of ICU beds had exceeded 50% capacity today.

A total of 81 patients required respiratory assistance, with ventilators being used at 9% of their maximum capacity.

The use of normal Covid-19 beds exceeded 50% capacity in Putrajaya (53%).

In terms of the total capacity for both Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients at public hospitals, critical beds were at 57% capacity while 52% of ICUs were in use.

Ten new clusters were also reported yesterday.
