PETALING JAYA:
A four-year-old girl fell to her death from the 18th floor of a condominium in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, early this morning.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Ashari Abu Samah said the authorities were alerted to the incident around 2am this morning by the public.

He said the girl’s mother was out and the child was asleep alone in her room at the apartment. “The other occupants were asleep in another room and unaware she was left unsupervised.”

Ashari said the girl was pronounced dead by an assistant medical officer at the site and the body taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

He said the case was being investigated for negligence and abandonment under the Child Act, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ jail or a fine of RM20,000 or both.
