
According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 9,673 new cases, comprising 9,648 local cases and 25 imported cases.
Of the 16 deaths, five were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases. The death toll now stands at 35,397.
Perak recorded the most deaths with five. This was followed by Selangor (2), Pahang (2), Penang (2), Johor (1), Perlis (1), Sabah (1), Sarawak (1) and Kuala Lumpur (1).
There were no deaths in Kedah, Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu, Labuan and Putrajaya.
As of midnight, there were 113,175 active cases, with 2,281 people hospitalised. Of this, 152 were in intensive care units (ICU), with 87 requiring respiratory assistance.
There were also 14,267 recoveries recorded.
The total number of Covid-19 cases stands at 4,372,697.
