“Ismail’s nomination as the sole prime minister candidate will guarantee the continuity of plans as well as the post-Covid-19 national recovery agenda,” said the 10 ministers and 10 deputies in a joint statement.
The statement was signed by senior minister Hishammuddin Hussein, rural development minister Mahdzir Khalid, communications and multimedia minister Annuar Musa and health minister Khairy Jamaluddin, among others.
The ministers and deputies also thanked Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and deputy president Mohamad Hasan for nominating Ismail.
Yesterday, the Umno Supreme Council said it has agreed to propose Ismail, the sitting prime minister, as its candidate for the post ahead of GE15.
Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional component Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) said it fully supported Umno’s nomination of Ismail as the prime minister candidate.
PBRS president Joseph Kurup said Ismail has performed well in office.
