33 Covid-19 deaths, 12,017 new cases

The death toll stands at 35,160.

Ten of the deaths were classified as brought-in-dead cases.
PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry reported 33 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, up from 28 previously.

The death toll now stands at 35,160.

According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 12,017 new cases, compared with 10,002 a day before. They comprised 11,958 local cases and 59 imported cases.

Of the 33 deaths, 10 were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Selangor recorded eight deaths, followed by Perak (6), Kedah (4), Sarawak (3), Johor, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang and Perlis (2 each) and Penang and Kuala Lumpur (1 each).

There were no deaths reported in Melaka, Sabah, Terengganu, Labuan and Putrajaya.

As of midnight, there were 171,172 active cases, with 3,423 people hospitalised. Of this, 234 were in intensive care units (ICU), with 131 requiring respiratory assistance.

There were also 20,431 recoveries recorded.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia stands at 4,268,486.
