Probe sale of Seri Iskandar airport land, MACC told

They say the sale was never discussed at any state exco meeting or by PKNP's board of directors during PH's administration.

Four former PH Perak executive council members have asked MACC to look into the sale of a piece of land allotted for an airport project in Seri Iskandar.
IPOH:
Four Perak state executive council (exco) members in the previous Pakatan Harapan government have called on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the sale of land proposed for the development of an international airport in Seri Iskandar, Tronoh, 40km from here.

The former exco members are Pasir Pinji assemblyman Lee Chuan How; Manjoi assemblyman Asmuni Awi; Sungai Rapat assemblyman Nizar Jamaluddin and Simpang Pulai assemblyman Tan Kar Hing.

According to Lee, the sale of the 188ha piece of land, belonging to the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP), to a private company was never discussed at any state exco meeting or by PKNP’s board of directors during the PH administration.

“We believe that there are parties who took advantage by abusing their power to negotiate quietly with the land buyer without the knowledge of the then state exco or the PKNP board of directors.

“Apart from wanting to clean PH’s reputation, the report made to the MACC today is also to demand a complete and detailed investigation into the parties involved in the power abuse,” he told reporters after accompanying Asmuni to hand over the report to the Perak MACC office here today.

Last Thursday, menteri besar Saarani Mohamad was reported to have said that the land was sold to a private company when the state was under PH’s administration.

He said the then Barisan Nasional government had given the land to PKNP for the international airport project.

Aulong assemblyman Nga Kor Ming had claimed during the recent Perak state assembly sitting that the airport land was sold without the state government’s permission.

Perak MACC director Fauzi Mohamad, when contacted, confirmed having received the report.
