PETALING JAYA:
Youth activist Adam Adli said today that he will be contesting for the PKR Youth chief’s post in the upcoming party elections.

He will be teaming up with lawyer Kamil Munim, who will contest for the Youth deputy chief’s post.

Adam added that his team, known as Seangkatan, would also have three vice-chief candidates and 20 executive council candidates.

He will be competing against another former student activist Fahmi Zainol for the Youth chief’s post.

Earlier, Fahmi, who is the Penang PKR Youth chief, said his team would include Rawang assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat and Melaka Youth chief Prasanth Kumar, who will contest for the deputy chief and vice-chief’s posts, respectively.

Batu MP P Prabakaran is also in Fahmi’s line-up and will contest for a place in the Youth executive council.

Yesterday, PKR organising secretary Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad announced that he would be contesting for the post of party vice-president.

Meanwhile, the key battle for the deputy president’s post will likely see PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail take on vice-president Rafizi Ramli, who declared earlier this month that he would be contesting the No. 2 post again.

The former Pandan MP lost to the incumbent, former PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, in the previous party polls in 2018 by a narrow margin. The post has been vacant since Azmin and other PKR leaders left the party following the Sheraton Move in February 2020.

PKR will hold its party elections in May.
