73 Covid-19 deaths, 21,483 new cases

The death toll stands at 34,535.

Twenty-five of the deaths were classified as brought-in-dead cases.
PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry reported 73 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, up from 62 previously.

The death toll stands at 34,535.

According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 21,483 new cases, compared with 17,828 the day before. They comprise 21,089 local cases and 394 imported cases.

Of the 73 deaths, 25 were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases

Perak reported the most number of fatalities with 19, followed by Johor and Selangor (11 each), Kedah (9), Penang (8), Kelantan, Melaka, Sabah and Terengganu (3 each) and Negeri Sembilan, Perlis and Sarawak (1 each).

There were no deaths in Pahang and the federal territories.

As of midnight, there were 252,671 active cases, with 6,617 hospitalised. Of this, 339 were in intensive care units (ICU), with 209 requiring respiratory assistance.

There were also 32,561 recoveries recorded.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia stands at 4,032,435.
