SHAH ALAM:
The Selangor state assembly has approved a supplementary budget of RM160 million to meet payments that were not previously provided for.

At the tabling of the bill today, menteri besar Amirudin Shari said the budget approved on Nov 26 was for an allocation of RM2.2 billion for state operating expenditure in 2022.

Based on the current financial needs, there is a lack of allocation for the use of certain departments.

Amirudin said the additional allocation would cover the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit initiative of RM150 million and another RM10 million needed to increase the ceiling of the state housing loan fund.

Amirudin added the additional expenditure was largely to cover efforts to provide aid and support to the people after the massive floods that hit the state last year.

The state assembly sitting will resume on Monday.
