State Covid-19 spokesman Masidi Manjun says 97% of the 796 cases detected today were Category 1 and Category 2 infections.

Masidi Manjun said 15 districts saw a significant drop in infections, including Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Tenom and Tuaran.
KOTA KINABALU:
Sabah’s Covid-19 situation appears to be stabilising, with the state registering 796 new infections in the last 24 hours, the first time that cases have dipped below the 1,000-mark since Feb 4.

State local government and housing minister Masidi Manjun said today’s cases were 380 fewer than yesterday’s.

Masidi, who is also the Sabah Covid-19 spokesman, said 97.86%, or 779, of today’s cases comprised Category 1 and Category 2 infections.

Only three Category 3 cases were detected, while 10 were in Category 4 and four in Category 5, he added.

“Fifteen districts saw significant drops in infections, including Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Tenom and Tuaran,” he said in his Covid-19 preliminary report today.

He said three clusters were declared closed today. They included two in educational institutions — the Jalan Taman Beringin cluster in Kota Marudu and the Madai Dua cluster in Kunak. The third was the community cluster in Kampung Weston, Beaufort.

Masidi said, however, there were still 26 active clusters in Sabah.

Despite the significant drop in cases, he advised the people to remain vigilant in heeding SOPs as sporadic or community infections remained high, accounting for 65% of the overall cases today.
