The Selangor fire and rescue department said the body of the latest victim was found under the rubble at 11pm.

Police had earlier confirmed that an elderly woman, who was the second victim found in the landslide incident at Taman Bukit Permai 2, had died.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Farouk Eshak said the body of the woman, who was in her 80s, was brought out at 9.15pm.

He said her body was found in her house and had been taken to the Ampang Hospital for post-mortem, adding that she was believed to be the wife of the first victim who had been rescued earlier.

Farouk said two more men are believed to be still buried in the rubble, including an employee of Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd.

“Apart from that, all the residents from the area have been placed at the temporary relief centre in Taman Mega Jaya here as a precautionary measure,” he told reporters at the scene.

Farouk said that, so far, 15 houses were affected and only two were buried in the landslide.

“We cannot ascertain whether this area is safe or not. (Land) assessment work is being carried out by the Public Works Department,” he said.

He added that the search and rescue operation for the remaining victims would continue tonight.

The fire department, meanwhile, said it was monitoring soil movement.

FMT reported earlier that two houses were badly damaged in the landslide while the others were partially affected.

Meanwhile, eyewitness Azril Sham Mohamed, 50, said he had just returned home from work at about 6pm when he suddenly heard a loud noise.

“I quickly alerted my wife and children and we ran for our lives,” he told reporters at the scene tonight.

Azril said he has been staying in the area for 13 years and this was the first time a landslide had happened there.
