Increase in daily quota for Singapore land VTL from Monday

Transport minister Wee Ka Siong says 3,420 passengers will be allowed to cross the Causeway daily from next week.

PETALING JAYA:
The daily quota for the vaccinated travel lane (VTL) by land between Malaysia and Singapore will be raised from Monday.

The transport ministry confirmed that the increase will allow 3,420 passengers to travel daily across the Causeway.

“The daily passenger quota under the land VTL initiative to Singapore will be increased from 2,160 people to 3,420 from March 14,” minister Wee Ka Siong said in a statement today.

“This will allow even more fully vaccinated people to travel across the Causeway without being subjected to quarantine and other related requirements,” he said.

The announcement follows a previous increase of passenger capacity from 50% to 100% on Feb 16.

Wee said bus tickets for the additional daily quota would be available for sale tomorrow.

He added that Malaysia’s designated bus operator will continue to operate the land VTL from the Larkin terminal in Johor Bahru to Woodlands in Singapore.

Travellers will still have to comply with existing land VTL requirements, namely, pre-departure and on-arrival Covid-19 tests.

On Malaysia’s transition to the endemic phase beginning April 1, Wee said the land VTL agreement with Singapore will remain in effect.
