Former Bursa CEO Yusli Yusoff dies, aged 63

Yusli Mohamed Yusoff died this afternoon after a battle with cancer.

PETALING JAYA:
Former Bursa Malaysia Bhd chief executive officer Yusli Mohamed Yusoff died today. He was 63.

He died this afternoon, according to a report in The Edge. He was reported to have been suffering from cancer.

Yusli was Bursa’s CEO and executive director from April 10, 2004 to March 31, 2011, when it was known as the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, or KLSE.

Most recently, he was Mudajaya Group Bhd chairman and president of the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance (MICG).

MICG CEO Roshni Jayantilal confirmed Yusli’s passing, calling it “a great loss”.

“Yusli was a strong corporate governance advocate and a humble gentleman, a great mentor and leader that many admired and respected,” The Edge quoted him as saying.

Yusli also held directorships in FGV Holdings Bhd, AirAsia X Bhd, Westports Holdings Bhd and KPJ Healthcare Bhd.

It is understood that tahlil prayers will be held at the Bukit Damansara mosque later today.
