
On its Twitter account, the department said Jalan Cheras and Jalan Yaacob Latif were submerged in knee-deep waters, whereas floodwaters along Jalan Pudu were thigh-high.
In Hulu Langat, Selangor, the fire and rescue department is understood to have dispatched boats to Batu 14 as the area was affected by flash floods.
At 4.15pm today, the meteorological department issued a warning for thunderstorms in Kuala Lumpur, Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor and Sarawak.
The rain is expected to last until 8pm.
Yesterday, several areas in Kuala Lumpur were badly affected by flash floods following the downpour in the afternoon, as confirmed by the fire and rescue department.
These areas included Jalan Kuchai Lama, Jalan Air Keroh-Air Panas in Setapak, Leboh Ampang, Taman Salak Selatan, Taman U-Thant in Jalan Ampang, Taman Sri Petaling, Taska Roskani Jabatan Kerja Raya in Jalan Cheras and Kampung Periok in Kampung Baru.
The meteorological department also forecast bad weather until March 13, with thunderstorms expected in several areas in the west part of the peninsula, as well as Sabah and Sarawak.
