Election ceramah speakers can now remove face masks

New election campaign rules have been issued based on recommendations from the health ministry and the National Security Council.

According to the EC, the new SOPs state that ceramah attendees must always have their face masks on and maintain physical distancing.
JOHOR BAHRU:
The latest Covid-19 prevention rules for the Johor state elections now permit speakers at ceramah to remove their face masks while giving their campaign speeches.

The Election Commission (EC) issued the latest SOPs today based on recommendations from the health ministry and National Security Council.

According to the new rules, speakers have to put their face masks back on after finishing their talk.

All those attending a ceramah must always have their face masks on and maintain physical distancing of at least one metre between individuals.

For party meeting activities, all attendees must wear their face masks at all times and maintain physical distancing of at least one metre. Physical greetings are not allowed.

The new rules come into effect immediately, the EC said.

Johor voters go to the polls on March 12, while early voting takes place tomorrow.
