Kota Kemuning rep V Ganabatirau said the bund repair would prevent another flood.
He said the bund near the tidal gate was low and had been “patched temporarily” with the help of the Shah Alam city council.
“I don’t understand why ( the bund was low),” he said. Selangor DID should know the high tide water level and build the bund at that appropriate height,” he told FMT.
“It’s really frustrating to see the way they’re doing their work. They need to be more cautious when it comes to sensitive sites like Taman Sri Muda,” he said, adding that he will be meeting with the new Selangor DID director soon to discuss this issue.
On March 2, residents of Taman Sri Muda who have barely recovered from the disastrous floods last December were alarmed when water from the drain connecting to the tidal gate overflowed and flooded the nearby houses.
Gopalakrishnan, a resident, feared that the temporary bund would collapse if the water level rose again during the rainy season. “If not restored properly, it will flood again,” he told FMT,
Selangor DID Klang branch engineer Ganesan Balakrishnan told FMT they are unable to comment and this issue has to be referred to the state director.
