Khairy, a former Umno Supreme Council member, said the Johor state elections had nothing to do with issues involving national Umno leaders embroiled in allegations of corruption.
He responded to a call earlier today by PAS leader Abdul Hadi Awang for voters to give Umno and BN “a rest” after 60 years in power.
Khairy said: “Why do we (Umno-BN) want to rest here (Johor)? We are a party that offers a principled coalition for the people, it has nothing to do with a corrupt leader.”
He said Johor BN leader Hasni had high credibility and was well-liked by voters.
Hadi had said in Pontian last night that BN and Umno would suffer weaknesses such as corruption, misconduct, and malpractices after 60 years in power.
