
Of these, 1,276 cases were in Category 1 and 2 while 721 were in Category 3, 4 and 5.
Perak had the highest number of new admissions with 251, followed by Johor (220) and Selangor (214).
Meanwhile, 1,522 patients were discharged yesterday.
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) were at 40% of their total capacity of 879 beds.
ICU beds in six regions have exceeded 50% capacity, namely Putrajaya (100%), Perlis (73%), Selangor (61%), Kuala Lumpur (58%), Johor (57%) and Perak (51%).
A total of 211 patients required respiratory assistance, with ventilators being used at 24% of their maximum capacity.
The use of normal Covid-19 beds have exceeded 50% capacity in Selangor (114%), Perak (98%), Perlis (98%), Kuala Lumpur (93%), Putrajaya (93%), Kelantan (79%), Pahang (78%), Terengganu (71%), Sarawak (65%), Johor (64%), Penang (58%) and Sabah (56%).
In terms of total capacity at public hospitals for both Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients, the use of beds at general wards was at 68% while at ICUs it was at 59%.
There were also 17 clusters reported yesterday.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought or R0) stood at 1.02.
