
Of this, 1,179 cases were in Category 1 and 2 while 575 were in Category 3, 4 and 5.
Selangor had the highest number of new admissions with 224, followed by Perak (221) and Johor (178).
Meanwhile, 1,449 patients were discharged yesterday.
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) were at 43% of their total capacity of 868 beds.
ICU beds in eight regions have exceeded 50% capacity, namely Putrajaya (67%), Kuala Lumpur (65%), Melaka and Johor (63%), Kelantan (58%), Selangor and Perlis (55%) and Sabah (53%).
A total of 213 patients required respiratory assistance, with ventilators being used at 36% of their maximum capacity.
The use of normal Covid-19 beds had exceeded 50% capacity in Kuala Lumpur (95%), Kelantan (94%), Perak (90%), Putrajaya (86%), Selangor (81%), Perlis (78%), Pahang (73%), Johor (66%), Penang (60%), Sabah (54%) and Sarawak (52%).
In terms of public hospitals’ total capacity (Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients), non-critical beds were at 66% while 62% of ICUs were in use.
There were also seven clusters reported yesterday.
Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought or R0) stood at 1.02.
