40 Covid-19 deaths, 24,466 new cases

The death toll stands at 32,674.

Seventeen of the deaths were classified as brought-in-dead cases.
PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry reported 40 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, according to its GitHub database, down from 43 previously.

The ministry also reported 24,466 new cases, comprising 24,220 local cases and 246 imported cases.

The death toll now stands at 32,674.

Seventeen of the deaths were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Kedah reported eight deaths, followed by Johor and Penang (5 each), Perak and Sabah (4 each), Kelantan and Pahang (3 each), Melaka, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur (2 each) and Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu (1 each).

There were no deaths in the other states and federal territories.

As of midnight, there were 300,692 active cases, with 7,864 hospitalised. Of this, 353 were in intensive care units (ICU), 193 of whom required respiratory assistance.

There were also 22,710 recoveries.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia stands at 3,419,636.
