
Of this, 990 cases were in Category 1 and 2 while 569 were in Category 3, 4 and 5.
Selangor had the highest number of new admissions with 223, followed by Pahang (194) and Johor (161).
Meanwhile, 22,380 patients were discharged yesterday.
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) were at 41% of their total capacity of 856 beds.
ICU beds in four regions have exceeded 50% capacity, namely Kelantan (94%), Johor (69%) and Putrajaya (67%).
A total of 193 patients required respiratory assistance.
The use of normal Covid-19 beds has exceeded 50% capacity in a number of areas, including Kelantan (108%), Selangor (101%), and Putrajaya (95%).
In terms of public hospitals’ total capacity (Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients), non-critical beds were at 68% while 61% of ICUs were in use.
There were also five clusters reported yesterday.
Malaysia’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought or R0) stood at 1.05.
