PETALING JAYA:
Singapore President Halimah Yacob today suspended the execution of two men convicted of drug trafficking in 2010.

The two men, Malaysian Pausi Jefridin and Singaporean Roslan Bakar were supposed to be executed yesterday.

In a Facebook post today, lawyer M Ravi revealed letters from the republic’s prison service informing the family of the two men that Halimah had ordered a respite of their execution.

Both men were scheduled to be executed yesterday but were granted an interim stay of execution pending an appeal. The appeal, however, was turned down.

Lawyers for the two men have since filed another application to challenge the constitutionality of the death penalty.

Pausi, who is from Sabah, is of low IQ. He and Roslan were sentenced to death for drug trafficking in 2010.
