PETALING JAYA:
Police have confirmed that a motorist who brandished a handcuff at the driver of another vehicle over a misunderstanding is a policeman.

Wangsa Maju police chief Ashari Abu Samah said the individual is a lance corporal with the district police headquarters.

“An inquiry paper has been opened to investigate the officer on the aspect of discipline and integrity,” Ashari told FMT.

Recently, dash cam footage from a vehicle moving on a right lane along Jalan Tun Razak went viral on social media. It showed the vehicle refusing to give way to another car attempting to overtake it from the left lane.

The driver of the second car then wound down his side window and brandished a handcuff.

Dang Wangi police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya said police had recorded statements from six individuals regarding the case.

“We are completing the investigation,” he said.
