It claimed that Wong, of DAP, posted videos and made statements on Facebook on Dec 28 and Jan 30, which when read together, were defamatory in nature against the state authorities.
In the letter of demand dated Feb 4 sighted by FMT, it said Wong’s statements implied that the state government:
- Allowed uncontrollable logging in rainfall areas within the state that led to massive floods;
- Is involved and is the cause of logging activities and illegal exploitation of forest land in the state;
- Is being irresponsible and does not care about the welfare of the people of Pahang; and
- Is lying and oppressing its people by allowing widespread logging activities in the forest areas in Pahang.
The notice also claimed that his statements had subjected the state government to public criticism and damaged its reputation.

“The statements have subjected our client to accusations of being a state government that is deceitful, lacking integrity and irresponsible,” it said.
In a Facebook post today, Wong reacted to the notice by saying that this was a superficial action by the state government.
“As an elected representative, it is my responsibility to speak for the people. If what I’m saying isn’t true, prove it!” he wrote.
This comes less than a week after a notice with similar demands was sent to environmental activist Shariffa Sabrina Syed Akil for allegedly making defamatory statements on logging activities in the state.
