PETALING JAYA:
The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) has received 42 reports of deaths among the 13,000,984 booster dose recipients, of which 14 cases were given heterologous (mixed vaccines) jabs.

NPRA director Dr Roshayati Mohamad Sani said the Pfizer, Sinovac and AstraZeneca jabs had recorded a mortality rate of 3.4, 4.2, and 1.4 deaths among recipients per every million doses, respectively.

In a statement, she said the NPRA had also received 80 reports of serious adverse effects suffered following immunisation (AEFIs) after receiving booster shots, equivalent to six reports for every one million doses.

The 80 cases were part of a total of 1,104 AEFI reports among recipients of booster shots, equivalent to 85 reports for every one million doses, she said.

Roshayati said a total of 13,000,984 booster shots had been administered as of Feb 11.

“From the monitoring of AEFI reports received by NPRA so far, the trend and rate of AEFI reporting involving booster doses did not show any increase from what was seen during primary dose administration.

“A similar reporting trend has also been reported by other countries that have run immunisation programmes for Covid-19 vaccine booster doses,” she said.

She also said 79,393 vaccine doses had been administered to children aged five to 11 as of Feb 11.

“So far, only eight reports of non-serious adverse effects have been received, which is equivalent to the rate of 0.1 reports for every 1,000 doses.

“Among the adverse effects reported are skin reaction, vomiting and pain in the abdomen area,” she said.
