PETALING JAYA:
A woman was killed during a scuffle between two foreign workers of an Arabic restaurant in Ampang, Selangor.

An Iraqi man fled the scene after he is believed to have killed a Somali woman with a knife along Jalan Memanda 2 around noon yesterday.

Police launched a hunt and arrested the 25-year-old suspect in Ampang Putra a few hours later, said Ampang Jaya district police chief Farouk Eshak.

“The man holds a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) card,” he said in a statement.

“We also seized a knife believed to have been used by the suspect in the incident,” Farouk said, adding that the suspect was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Police were also investigating the motive for the murder.

According to Farouk, the 28-year-old victim had been living with the suspect’s family for nine years.

He added that a medical officer had confirmed that the victim had tested positive for Covid-19.
