DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng cited examples, including MACC’s investigation into Dr Xavier Jayakumar, which he said had “turned cold” after the Kuala Langat MP quit PKR to support former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Last year, Azam said Xavier was being investigated following the arrest of his close associate, MA Tinagaran.

In a statement, Lim also said that five PKR MPs rejected inducements or were subjected to intimidation to defect and support Muhyiddin. However, no action was taken against those trying to trigger their defections.

He said that Tebrau MP Steven Choong, who also defected from PKR, had admitted that he was promised an official position that would provide him a platform to rebuild the nation’s economy.

“Is that not an inducement for Choong to jump?” he asked.

“Why is it that MPs who jumped from the opposition to the government are not charged when it is obviously for the benefit of government posts?”

Lim also questioned the lack of action on the alleged audio recording of Muhyiddin offering political posts and positions in government-linked companies in exchange for political support.

He said Azam must “come clean” on why no action had been taken in these cases.
