Covid-19 cases dip to 4,915 with 14 new clusters

The health ministry also reported 3,056 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 4,915 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, a slight dip from the 5,139 infections recorded yesterday.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,865,984.

He said 3,056 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,780,771.

Noor Hisham said 14 new clusters were reported today.

Meanwhile, 120 patients remain in intensive care, 103 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 17 suspected of being infected; 65 patients require respiratory assistance, with 50 Covid-19 positive and 15 suspected of being infected.

There were 4,727 local infections today, involving 4,573 Malaysians and 154 foreigners, and 188 imported cases, comprising 111 Malaysians and 77 foreigners.

Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 0.8%% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases at the time of diagnosis.

The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought, or R0) remained at 1.15, with Negeri Sembilan and Putrajaya having the highest R0 of 1.2, followed by Kedah (1.18), Perlis (1.16), Johor (1.15), Melaka (1.13), Kuala Lumpur (1.13), Selangor (1.1), Penang (1.07), Kelantan (1.07), Sabah (1.04), Perak (1.04), Pahang (1.03), Sarawak (1.0), and Terengganu (0.93).

Labuan recorded an R0 of 0.
