PETALING JAYA:
A thunderstorm wreaked havoc in Shah Alam this evening as heavy rain and strong winds ripped off the roofs of a hypermarket parking lot and uprooted a tree.

“There were no victims but a total of eight vehicles were damaged at the Giant hypermarket,” the Selangor fire and rescue department said in a report.

The report also stated that a tree had fallen and crushed two cars at a traffic-light intersection near a polytechnic in Jalan Subang, but that the occupants were able to free themselves before the firemen arrived.

“The rescue operations commander ensured all victims were unharmed while firemen used chainsaws to cut up the fallen trees.”

In a video seen by FMT, several cars were crushed by fallen trees and strong winds caused rubbish to pile up on the streets.
