
In a Twitter post, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,844,969.
He said 3,646 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,766,254.
Meanwhile, 129 patients remain in intensive care (ICU), 110 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 19 suspected of being infected.
Of the patients in ICU, 72 required respiratory assistance, 48 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 24 suspected of being infected.
There were 4,315 local infections today, involving 4,112 Malaysians and 203 foreigners, and 429 imported cases, comprising 289 Malaysians and 140 foreigners.
Noor Hisham said of the new infections, only 0.6% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases at the time of diagnosis.
The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought, or R0) is 1.09, with Negeri Sembilan having the highest R-nought of 1.13, followed by Johor (1.10), Kedah (1.09), Kuala Lumpur (1.07), Selangor (1.05), Penang (1.03), Melaka (1.03), Sabah (1.01), Pahang (1.01), Kelantan (1.00), Perak (1.00), Putrajaya (0.99) and Terengganu (0.83).
Noor Hisham added that there were 21 new clusters reported today.
