
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,820,927.
He said 3,254 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,747,457.
Meanwhile, 160 patients remain in intensive care (ICU), 125 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 35 suspected of being infected.
Of the patients in ICU, 72 required respiratory assistance, 55 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 17 suspected of being infected.
There were 3,242 local infections today, involving 3,089 Malaysians and 153 foreigners, and 522 imported cases, comprising 426 Malaysians and 96 foreigners.
Noor Hisham said of the new infections, only 1.2% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases at the time of diagnosis.
The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought, or R0) stood at 0.99, with Kuala Lumpur having the highest R-nought of 1.09, followed by Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Kedah, each with 1.04, Melaka (1.03), Sabah (1.00) and Selangor (1.00). The rest of the states and federal territories recorded less than 1.00.
He added that there were 17 new clusters reported today.
