PETALING JAYA:
A top shariah judge implicated in a sexual harassment investigation has sued former Umno supreme council member Lokman Adam for RM30 million.

Shariah chief judge Mohd Na’im Mokhtar has filed the defamation suit against Lokman over several social media posts, which claimed he had sexually harassed multiple women including a “Datin”, Bernama reported.

Na’im, who is also the director-general of the Malaysian Shariah Judiciary Department, claimed that Lokman had slandered him through two Facebook livestreams on the “Lokman Noor Adam Official” Facebook page on Jan 10 and Jan 13, aside from three other Facebook posts.

He is now seeking a court injunction to compel Lokman to delete the video and posts, and a separate injunction to stop the defendant from republishing the posts. He is also seeking an official apology to be published on social media.

Na’im filed the summons at the High Court through his legal counsel Akberdin & Co on Monday.

He previously lodged a police report on Dec 12, 2021 to deny allegations made by a married woman who had claimed she found him naked in her bedroom when he visited her in August 2020. He had also called for police to take action against Lokman.

The injunction application will be heard in front of High Court judge Rozana Ali Yusoff tomorrow, while case mention is set for Feb 21.
