
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,813,934.
He said 3,093 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,741,355.
Meanwhile, 183 patients remain in intensive care, 128 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 55 suspected of being infected; 84 patients require respiratory assistance, with 52 Covid-19 positive and 32 suspected of being infected.
There were 2,971 local infections today, involving 2,882 Malaysians and 89 foreigners, and 274 imported cases, comprising 187 Malaysians and 87 foreigners.
Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 1.2% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases at the time of diagnosis.
The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought, or R0) stood at 0.98, with Labuan having the highest R0 of 1.06, followed by Negeri Sembilan with 1.05, Sabah (1.04), Melaka (1.04) and Selangor (1.00). The remaining states and federal territories recorded R0 levels below 1.00.
Noor Hisham added that there were 17 new clusters reported today.
