PETALING JAYA:
Senior citizens can walk-in for their Covid-19 booster jabs from Jan 19 at selected vaccination centres (PPVs), says the health ministry.

These will be available every day except for public holidays at the World Trade Centre, Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil Stadium, Ideal Convention Centre (Shah Alam), and Soka Gakkai (Klang).

Off-site PPVs will be located in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Penang and Sarawak. They will open from Jan 24.

Details of the implementation will be announced by ProtectHealth Corporation, the government company that manages the national immunisation programme, said the ministry in a statement today.

It also said that beginning Jan 19, the Pfizer vaccine will be supplied to PPVs, specifically for certain people, such as pregnant mothers or others who have contraindications to the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Previously, walk-ins for booster shots at off-site PPVs were not allowed to prevent huge crowds from forming.

These off-site PPVs operated at shopping malls and community halls.
