Prodded on by the supporters chanting for Azam to step down, Amanah MPs Mahfuz Omar and Salahuddin Ayub submitted the document to a representative from the Prime Minister’s Department.
Mahfuz told reporters that they had outlined three demands: a parliamentary session to discuss the allegations against Azam, a parliamentary committee to study the matter, and action by the prime minister to advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to order Azam to go on garden leave pending completion of investigations against him.
Mahfuz said that it was not enough to just hear explanations from Azam as the allegations were of a serious nature.

“We need to follow the procedures under the law, that’s why we have the courts, the police and the Attorney-General’s Chambers. We humbly hope the King will speak up on the matter,” he said.
Salahuddin, who is party vice-president, said that the rakyat will not tolerate silence on the matter by the prime minister.

He questioned how Azam, as a public servant, obtained the money to pay for such a large number of shares.
“Strict action must be taken, this is a matter of national interest,” he said.
