Muda’s request to help flood victims ‘incomplete’, says district office

The Muar district office says it rejected Muda’s offer to provide post-flood relief as no locations or recipients’ names were specified.

Muar MP and Muda co-founder Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had questioned the Muar district office’s decision to reject their offer to clean houses and provide aid to flood victims.
JOHOR BAHRU:
Muda’s offer to help clean houses and provide aid to flood victims in Muar was rejected because its application was incomplete, said the Muar district office.

In a statement issued today, the district office said the Muar disaster operations control centre received an application from Muda on Jan 12, but no specific location nor names of the recipients were mentioned for the programme.

It said Muda had applied to conduct its programme today and tomorrow (Jan 15 and 16).

Applicants are required to list names of recipients for their contributions for coordination purposes, it said, and that as of Jan 13, the contributions had exceeded the needs of the victims.

Apart from the application by Muda, the statement added, the Muar district office also rejected applications for the same purpose by four others.

The statement was issued in response to a Facebook post by Muar MP and Muda co-founder Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman on Jan 13, questioning the district office’s decision to reject Muda’s application to assist in post-flood relief work.
