3,346 new Covid-19 cases, 3 clusters

This brings the total number of infections to 2,802,263.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 3,346 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, down from the 3,684 cases reported yesterday.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,802,263.

He said 3,052 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,729,943.

Meanwhile, 204 patients remain in intensive care units (ICU), 159 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 45 suspected of being infected.

Of the patients in ICU, 95 required respiratory assistance, 64 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 31 suspected of being infected.

There were 3,079 local infections today, involving 2,941 Malaysians and 138 foreigners, and 267 imported cases, comprising 196 Malaysians and 71 foreigners.

Noor Hisham said of the new infections, only 1.5% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases at the time of diagnosis.

He added that there were three new clusters reported today.
