Health ministry reports 16 new Covid-19 deaths

This brings the total number of fatalities to 31,644.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry reported 16 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, according to its GitHub database, down from the 19 reported yesterday.

Of the total, two were classified as brought-in-dead (BID). The death toll now stands at 31,644.

Most of the fatalities were recorded in Johor with four deaths, followed by Sabah (3), Kedah (2), Selangor (2), Perak (1), Terengganu (1), Penang (1), Sarawak (1) and Perlis (1).

There were no deaths reported in Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.

As of midnight, there were 39,697 active cases including 254 in intensive care units (ICU), 114 of whom require respiratory assistance.

There were also 3,447 recoveries reported.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia stands at 2,780,080.
