Baby found dead near flats in Setapak

Police say the baby is believed to be a day old.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem.

A baby girl was found dead at the bottom of Block A of the Danau Kota Flats in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Ashari Abu Samah said they received the report on the discovery of the body, lying on a plank, at 8.21am.

“Preliminary investigation found that it was the body of a baby girl, believed to be a day old.

“The body has been taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital’s forensic unit for an autopsy,” he said in a statement.

He urged members of the public with information on the case to report to the district police headquarters.

The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing the birth of a baby by secretly disposing of the body.
