KOTA KINABALU:
The Kadazandusun and Murut (KDM) community still showed strong support for Warisan despite its former vice-president Peter Anthony leaving the party, said president Shafie Apdal.

Shafie admitted that Peter had a big influence among the KDM community but Warisan still had thousands of supporters from among them.

Peter, a former state infrastructure development minister, resigned from Warisan last month to form a new party.

Shafie added that the KDM in Sabah had been divided before, but if another KDM-based party was formed, there would be further divisions.

“I want to unite them, that’s why from the start I wanted to collaborate with PBS and Jeffrey (Kitingan),” he said.

Shafie was speaking after the screening of the documentary “I AM DSSA”, which narrates his political journey after he left Umno up until Warisan’s defeat in the Sabah state election in 2020.
